International Human Rights Day: MIGS Hosts High-Level Events on Tech & Repression
The Montreal Institute for Global Security (MIGS) is proud to collaborate with international partners on a series of events examining how emerging technologies are reshaping human rights — for better and for worse.

Human Rights and New Digital Technologies – 10 December (Ottawa)
In partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to Canada, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Canada , and Embassy of Embassy of Austria in Canada, this event brings together government leaders, civil society experts, and human rights defenders.

Leadership Meeting with Sasha Havlicek – 10 December (Ottawa)
We’ll also be hosting a strategic discussion with Sasha Havlicek, CEO of the ISD (Institute for Strategic Dialogue)), on countering online extremism and strengthening democratic resilience.
Keynote Address – 11 December (London)
Kyle Matthews will deliver a keynote at the High Commission of Canada in the UK on how digital tools are increasingly weaponized to suppress dissent — and what we can do to protect journalists, activists, and human rights defenders from digital authoritarianism.
