MIGS Awarded Grant from the Heinrich Böll Stiftung

The Montreal Institute for Global Security is pleased to announce that it has received a grant from the Heinrich Böll Stiftung, Washington, DC, to support the Canada–Germany Initiative on AI, Security, and Democratic Integrity, as part of the Foundation’s Grow the Future program.
This initiative examines how artificial intelligence is accelerating transformations in the global information environment, with far-reaching consequences for democratic integrity and international security. As the United States retreats from its traditional leadership role, authoritarian regimes and far-right actors are increasingly exploiting digital technologies to interfere in open societies such as Canada and Germany, targeting citizens through sophisticated influence and information manipulation campaigns.
The project will convene two online events bringing together leading experts and thought leaders from Canada and Germany, with the goal of building a sustained transatlantic network on AI, security, and democracy. These discussions will be complemented by a series of policy-focused publications aimed at informing decision-makers and strengthening democratic resilience.
