MIGS Joins Coalition to Bring the Defence, Security and Resilience Bank to Montreal

As Montreal and Quebec’s only independent think tank working on global security, the Montréal Institute for Global Security (MIGS) is rallying with partners for the city of Montreal to host the proposed multilateral Defence, Security and Resilience Bank (DSR Bank).

MIGS Executive Director Kyle Matthews has joined leaders from Montréal’s public and private sectors in signing an open letter issued by Montréal International in support of the city’s bid. You can read the letter here.

Today, MIGS also participated in a press conference alongside Québec Premier Jean-François Legault, Mayor of Montréal Soraya Martinez Ferrada, the President and CEO of National Bank of Canada, and the President and CEO of Montréal International to underscore why Montréal is uniquely positioned to host this proposed international financial institution. Hosting the DSR Bank in Montréal would leverage the city’s strengths in finance, advanced technologies, and defence expertise, while further solidifying its role as a global hub for security and multilateral cooperation.

Through this endorsement, MIGS reaffirms its commitment to advancing collaborative, forward-looking solutions that strengthen international security and democratic resilience, and to anchoring Canada—through Montréal—as a global hub for security innovation and strategic cooperation. The broad coalition supporting this vision signals a unique opportunity to raise Montréal’s international standing while delivering tangible strategic and economic gains.
