Global Health as Strategic Security

The Montreal Institute for Global Security (MIGS), in collaboration with Pendulum Geopolitical Advisory, is pleased to convene a panel discussion on the growing intersection between global health and national security. The event will highlight MIG’s latest report, Global Health as Strategic Security: Why Canada Should Lead on Health Financing in a Disordered World, examining how pandemics, fragile health systems, and declining international health financing create strategic risks that affect economic stability, supply chains, governance resilience, and geopolitical influence.
As global competition increasingly extends into the domain of health governance and medical supply chains, the discussion will explore why global health investment should be understood as a strategic tool for risk reduction, preparedness, and international cooperation. The panel will consider how middle powers such as Canada can contribute to strengthening global health resilience and reinforcing multilateral approaches to emerging transnational threats.
Bringing together policy practitioners and experts, the event aims to foster informed dialogue on the security implications of global health challenges and the role of strategic financing in building resilience in an increasingly disordered international environment.
